After-care

At Gloss Lash Lounge, beautiful retention is never an accident — it’s the result of precision application, premium products, and proper aftercare.

Our goal is simple: at the two-week mark, you’re still looking in the mirror thinking, “Do I even need a refill yet?”

Lash extensions are a luxury service and a beauty investment. While we apply every set with care and expertise, how you look after them at home plays a major role in how long they last and how flawless they continue to look.

Every client’s lashes are unique. Factors like skin type, hormones, lifestyle, medication, exercise frequency, and exposure to heat or humidity can all influence retention. The good news? With the right care routine, most clients enjoy strong, consistent retention between appointments.

The guidelines below are designed to:

• Maximise retention
• Protect the health of your natural lashes
• Keep your extensions looking fresh and fluffy
• Prevent premature shedding
• Ensure your refills stay quick and seamless

Think of aftercare as part of your lash appointment — it’s what protects the time, artistry and investment you’ve made.

  • To help us give you the best possible coverage and retention:

    • Avoid caffeine or pre-workout before your appointment (it can cause eyelid fluttering and make precise application more difficult).

    • Please remove contact lenses prior to your appointment.

    • Arrive with clean lashes — no eye makeup or residual mascara.

    • Avoid heavy eye creams on the day of your appointment.

  • Your adhesive continues to cure during this period.

    • Keep lashes completely dry (no showers, steam, saunas, swimming or heavy sweating).

    • Avoid touching, rubbing or brushing excessively.

    • Avoid eye makeup during this time.

    • Keep your face away from direct heat such as ovens, hair dryers or BBQ steam.

Heat, steam and moisture can weaken the adhesive bond while it is stabilising.

  • Clean lashes = better retention.

Many people assume lashes should be kept dry — this is a myth. Proper cleansing is essential to maintain healthy natural lashes and long-lasting extensions.

    • Wash your lashes daily using a professional oil-free lash cleanser.

    • Clean gently along the lash line to remove oil, sweat, makeup residue and environmental buildup.

    • Rinse with lukewarm water.

    • Pat dry gently — never rub.

    • Brush lashes daily with a clean spoolie to keep them fluffy and separated.

If you exercise regularly, wear makeup, have oily skin, or live in a humid climate, cleansing becomes even more important.

  • To protect the adhesive bond:

    • No oil-based products near the eyes (cleansers, creams, serums, makeup removers).

    • No waterproof mascara.

    • No eyelash curlers.

    • Do not perm or tint extensions.

    • Avoid spraying tan, setting spray or hairspray directly onto lashes.

    • Avoid rubbing, picking or pulling extensions.

    • Try not to sleep face-down. A silk pillowcase can help reduce friction and twisting.

  • It is completely normal to lose 2–5 natural lashes per day as part of your natural lash cycle.

Most extensions should shed with the natural lash attached.
If you notice extensions falling off on their own (without a natural lash), please reach out to us. We always want the opportunity to troubleshoot and ensure your lashes are performing as they should.

    Retention can be affected by:

    • Hormones

    • Medications

    • Skin type

    • Aftercare habits

    • Excessive heat or moisture exposure

    • Seasonal shedding cycles

If you ever have concerns, contact us — we’re here to help.

  • For consistently full lashes, we recommend infills every 2–3 weeks.

Waiting longer may require additional time or booking a longer refill appointment. Regular maintenance ensures your lashes always look seamless and protects the health of your natural lash line.

  • Looking after your extensions properly not only keeps them looking flawless — it protects the integrity of your natural lashes and ensures every appointment builds on the last.

Beautiful lashes start in the salon… and are maintained at home.

We can’t wait to see you at your next appointment. ✨
